An article has recently been published on the persistence of coronavirus on inanimate surfaces and biocides capable of inactivating it. This article was followed by the indications contained in a recommendation of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

The article concludes that despite the persistence of coronavirus in the environment for up to 9 days, it can be efficiently inactivated by surface disinfection procedures with at least 70% ethanol, 0.5% hydrogen peroxide, 0.1% sodium hypochlorite within 1 minute. Other biocidal agents such as 0.05-0.2% benzalkonium chloride or 0.02% chlorhexidine digluconate are still useful though less effective. The ECDC recommendations reach similar conclusions in relation to the effectiveness and concentration of the products.
